Has this crazy time got you realising you
NEED A CRM?
It may have taken me a good 6 months, in the beginning, to navigate my way around this new system but I can honestly say it was totally worth it.
Back in 2015/16 I began researching, as I’m sure you are doing now, firstly googling what these systems were even called and finding CRM to be the best term.
I read up on numerous different software programs like Studio Ninja, Dubsado, Honeybook, 17hats and more.
Honestly, I don’t think anyone can really say that one is better than another.
Mainly because we are all wired differently, we all work differently and we all need different things.
Similarly, they all get updated at random, so one-minute one CRM might suit then a few years later, another might add all the new features you wished you had and you might consider making the switch.
I opted for Tavé back in March, 2016, as a recommendation from photographer friends and so glad I did.
Luckily for me they spent a couple of hours running me through the back end, which can be super handy if you can find someone in your networks who is willing to do so.
I think I paid them in donating money to Cat Haven which was super cool.
Luckily for us these days a lot of companies offer ‘free white glove migration’ in order to get your business, it just means you need to take time learning a new system, which could take another 6 months if you aren’t a tech wizard or wired that way. Then you might find features in that software missing which you are used to and so it goes.
My suggestion is to find one that is the closest to what you need – write don your 3 non-negotiables that make your business tick along smoothly – then find those in a CRM.
I’d recommend not switching too quickly either as you will have lost all the work you have done setting it up and getting used to the way your CRM works, and chances are your CRM might add that feature you are moving over for shortly after you make the switch.
One feature that I would look out for is the online chat support.
This is crucial, no matter how much of a wizard you are.
Being in Australia I find Tave a touch annoying waiting 24 hours for a response, but hey, could be a lot worse and that is a pretty good turn around!
They also offer lots of blog material and tutorials on their website in the meantime linking to your query in case you can find the answer you are looking for straight away.
So, what do I love about Tave?
I am a huge advocate for working smarter, not harder and for automation in business.
With Tave, once I set up my full automation sequence, I simply get clients to fill in their details on a contact form on my website – this then gets imported straight into their own file in Tave and I can email them with my first email template. Because they have already entered all their info I don’t need to spend hours manually creating new leads, it’s all done for you!
I love how customisable this platform is, and how it can integrate into my WordPress website to cut down on double handling.
I love it’s accounting and tax reporting capabilities – I use these more as a backup to compare and check with my Xero.

We didn’t want them to feel left out.
