Simone + Robbie | Eichardt’s Queenstown Wedding

Flying into Queenstown in the middle of summer and seeing snow-capped mountains was one of those surreal moments where you question whether your jet lag is playing tricks on you. But stepping off the plane in shorts and thongs quickly confirmed it was very real — and very cold.

That first shock of winter air is quickly forgotten though, because Queenstown has a way of completely stopping you in your tracks. The mountains, the lake, and the shifting light make it one of the most visually striking places to photograph a wedding, no matter the season.

Simone and Robbie’s wedding was set against this incredible backdrop, centred around an intimate celebration at Eichardt’s Private Hotel. The penthouse space is something truly special — elevated above the town with uninterrupted views across Lake Wakatipu and the surrounding peaks. It’s one of those rare venues where the view alone feels like part of the ceremony.

The day unfolded with a beautiful mix of intimacy and energy. A standout moment came when a group of local Maori performers unexpectedly arrived and delivered a powerful haka, transforming the atmosphere entirely and creating a moment none of the guests will forget.

Despite having only just met Simone and Robbie on the day, it was immediately clear how deeply connected they were. Their two children were also a central part of the celebration, bringing warmth, energy, and a sense of family to every part of the day.

This was a wedding defined by landscape, connection, and unexpected moments — the kind that make Queenstown weddings so unforgettable.
