A wedfest filled with 53 glamping tents, 140 of their favourite humans, 3 gorgeous kids, a fur baby, feather wedding dress all the way from Serbia, one giant d-floor backdrop with their branding made by a friend in India, a giant semi-trailer Laundry 43 catering truck, a million laughs plus a few tears later, Mel and Tom’s wedding was an incredible experience.
We got chatting with Mel after the big day to get some insights that might help engaged couple’s during the wedding planning process…
What main piece of advice would you give a newly engaged bride/ couple going through the wedding planning process?
Decide early what type of wedding you want. Is it all about the two of you, about your families or a chance to bring all your friends together for a big party! It sets the theme early on and gives meaning to each part of the planning process.
Were there any standout vendors?
Laundry 43 our caterers were beyond amazing. Karis the owner is the most accommodating person I’ve ever met. Nothing was too much trouble and she over delivered on everything. The one common piece of feedback from all of our guests has been the food was amazing.
Your good self. I was so relaxed and I had confessed to you how much I hated photos. Somehow you managed to get me to love the whole experience!!
Our celebrant Karen Steele. She was fabulous.
Was there anything that I or any other vendor offered that really helped? Any blog posts, suggestions, on the day ideas etc..
Your blogs on how to take good photos – relax, enjoy, laugh, be natural etc were really good. I read them all as the photos were probably the scariest part for me.
Our celebrant – When we were preparing she told us to stop when we both got the front, take 3 deep breaths and have a look around. To really enjoy and savour the moment. It was fabulous advice as we did do that and the whole thing was fun. It was unlike other stuffy ceremonies I had experienced which seemed very rehearsed.
If you could describe my brand in 3 words what would they be?
Authentic. Timeless. Welcoming.
What were your favourite memories of the wedding day?
1. The ceremony. Seeing Tom. Looking out at our guests and feeling so much love. All our favourite people there for us. It was overwhelming in a beautiful way.
2. The photos. We had so much fun. It really gave us a chance to enjoy what we’d just done, before going back and joining the party.
What image(s) meant the most to you?
Hard question. There were so many. The ones of Tom & I in the forest and tents showed just how much fun and love we had. I look back often on a tough day and feel all the emotions come back in an instant.
The ones of us with our kids, and dog melt me. Can not wait to get some enlarged.
And the party, wow it was so cool to see what I didn’t see on the day. You caught every little thing. Awesome.
