The Best Wedding Venues in Perth | A Photographer’s Guide (2026 update)

You’re engaged — congratulations!

One of the first (and most exciting) decisions you’ll make is choosing your wedding venue. The venue you choose will influence almost every part of your day — from the atmosphere and guest experience through to the style of your photographs.

After photographing weddings across Perth for more than a decade, I’ve had the privilege of working at many of Western Australia’s most beautiful venues. From beachfront celebrations and vineyard weddings to historic buildings and intimate garden gatherings, this guide includes some of my favourite wedding venues in Perth.

  • In The City
  • By The Bay

Lamont’s Bishops House

If I had to recommend one of Perth’s best all-round wedding venues, Lamont’s Bishops House would be near the top of the list.

Located on Adelaide Terrace and surrounded by manicured gardens, it offers multiple ceremony and reception options while still feeling intimate and relaxed.

As a photographer, I love the variety of locations available within walking distance, including the gardens, heritage architecture, nearby city streets and close to the best pre-wedding preparation accomodation in Perth – Como Treasury.

The food is consistently exceptional and Matthew and his team always deliver a seamless experience.

Best suited to: Garden weddings, marquee receptions, city weddings and couples wanting an elegant all-in-one venue.

ST GEORGE’S COLLEGE

St George’s College is one of the most beautiful heritage wedding venues in Perth. Nestled beside the Swan River and surrounded by established gardens, it offers couples a timeless setting for both ceremonies and receptions.

As a photographer, I love the variety of backdrops available throughout the grounds, from sandstone architecture and ivy-covered walls to sweeping lawns and golden afternoon light.

Available for weddings during the summer months, it’s always one of the first Perth wedding venues I recommend to couples looking for a venue with character and charm.

COMO THE TREASURY & THE STATE BUILDINGS

If you’re dreaming of a sophisticated city wedding, it’s hard to go past COMO the Treasury and State Buildings.

From ceremonies overlooking Cathedral Square to intimate dinners and grand celebrations within The State Buildings precinct, there are a variety of spaces to suit different guest numbers and wedding styles. The heritage architecture, warm interiors and beautifully restored spaces create some of the most elegant wedding backdrops in Perth.

As a photographer, I love how everything is within walking distance — allowing couples to enjoy drinks with their guests while we slip away for a handful of portraits around the city before returning to the celebrations. The neon lights of Long Chim, the stunning white arches behind St George’s Cathedral and the gardens across the road are great backdrops.

WILDFLOWER

Located on the rooftop of COMO The Treasury, Wildflower is one of Perth’s most beautiful dining experiences. With sweeping views across the city and Swan River, it’s perfect for intimate weddings, rehearsal dinners or couples wanting a refined restaurant celebration with exceptional food.

POST

Post is ideal for smaller wedding receptions, engagement parties and long lunches. Overlooking Stirling Gardens, it offers a contemporary yet relaxed atmosphere in the heart of the city.

POSTAL HALL

For larger celebrations, Postal Hall is one of Perth’s most impressive reception spaces. The soaring ceilings, heritage architecture and grand scale create an unforgettable setting for couples wanting a classic city wedding with plenty of wow factor.

PERTH TOWN HALL

Planning a winter wedding or hosting a larger guest list? Perth Town Hall is one of Perth’s most iconic wedding venues, combining grand Victorian Gothic architecture with a central city location. Just moments from St George’s Cathedral and COMO The Treasury, it’s an excellent choice for couples planning an elegant Perth city wedding.

Perth City Farm (BYO Wedding Venue Perth)

For couples wanting something a little different, Perth City Farm offers one of Perth’s most unique wedding venues.

I’ve photographed everything here, from relaxed cocktail weddings under festoon lights and food trucks in the courtyard through to beautiful long-table receptions for 250 guests. With multiple indoor and outdoor spaces available, it works brilliantly year-round and can be transformed to suit almost any wedding style.

Having married here myself, I can personally vouch for the flexibility of their DIY/BYO wedding packages. The generous three-day hire period gives couples plenty of time to set up and pack down, while the late finish time is a rare find amongst Perth wedding venues.

My tip: If you’re considering a DIY venue, invest in a great planner or stylist. Having an experienced team behind the scenes makes the entire experience far more enjoyable and allows you to focus on celebrating with your favourite people.

MOANA HALL

Nestled in the heart of Perth City, Moana Hall is one of Perth’s most versatile wedding venues. The beautifully restored 1920s building can be transformed to suit almost any wedding style — from a relaxed European-inspired long lunch to a moody, modern celebration complete with neon signs and a packed dance floor.

As a true blank canvas venue, Moana Hall gives couples the freedom to make the space their own. With capacity for up to 200 cocktail guests or 120 seated, it’s ideal for both intimate celebrations and larger receptions.

One of the biggest advantages is that everything can happen under one roof, making it a fantastic year-round option. Alternatively, couples wanting a traditional church ceremony can take advantage of nearby St George’s Cathedral before continuing the celebrations at Moana Hall.

Best suited to: Couples wanting a flexible, character-filled venue they can completely personalise.

Catering: In-house and BYO options available.

Whether it’s overlooking vineyards, rolling countryside or a private property with sentimental value, The Kingsman transforms almost any space into a stylish wedding venue.

The soaring open-sided design allows guests to enjoy the surrounding landscape while still providing the comfort and practicality of a dedicated reception space.

Best suited to: Couples wanting a luxury marquee wedding, private property celebration or complete freedom over their wedding location.

Why I love it: It combines the atmosphere and views of an outdoor wedding with the structure and convenience of a traditional venue.

SOMERVILLE AUDITORIUM

Somerville Auditorium sits beneath a canopy of towering pines at UWA, a space often called a “tree cathedral” for its natural symmetry and scale. Light filters through the branches in a way that feels almost staged, but entirely organic — soft, directional, and constantly shifting.

Weddings here feel cinematic rather than styled. It holds up to larger celebrations, with space for up to around 250 guests, yet still feels intimate once the light drops and the trees close in.

At night, a clear marquee and string lights extend the atmosphere nd set the stage for a fairytale celebration.

How To Choose The Right Wedding Venue

Before booking a venue, ask yourselves a few important questions:

What setting suits your style?

Do you picture yourselves exchanging vows overlooking the ocean, amongst vineyards, beneath towering trees or in a heritage building filled with character?

The best weddings always feel personal, so choose a venue that reflects who you are as a couple.

How many guests are you inviting?

Your guest list will quickly narrow your options.

For larger weddings, venues such as Sandalford Winery, Nikola Estate and The Westin can comfortably accommodate bigger numbers.

Cocktail or seated reception?

Cocktail weddings create a relaxed and social atmosphere.

Seated receptions tend to feel more structured and traditional.

Neither is right or wrong — it simply comes down to the experience you want to create.

One venue or two?

Having your ceremony and reception at the same location is often the easiest option and gives you more time to spend with your guests.

Separate locations can work beautifully too, particularly if you’re planning a church ceremony or want additional time for portraits between locations.

What is the wet weather plan?

Even in Perth, weather can surprise us.

If you’re planning an outdoor celebration, make sure your venue has a quality indoor option or clear marquee solution so you can relax no matter what the forecast is doing.
