How to Choose the Perfect Wedding Venue in Perth

Before you start shortlisting venues, ask yourselves:

What setting suits you best?
Coastal, vineyard, garden, or inner-city — choose a space that reflects your style.

How many guests are you inviting?
Your numbers will quickly determine which venues work. For larger weddings, Sandalford Winery and The Westin are two of the main options.

Cocktail or sit-down?
Cocktail = relaxed and social. Sit-down = more structured and formal.

One venue or two?
Having both ceremony and reception in one location make things simple and give you more time for photos and mingling with your loved ones, but separate venues can work well for earlier church ceremonies or if you’d like more time for portrait photos between ceremony and reception.

What about the weather?
Outdoor weddings are beautiful, but always have a backup plan (clear marquee or indoor option). Remember your venue light and look will be different at different times of the day and year.

ST GEORGES COLLEGE

St George’s College is one of the most picturesque wedding venues in Perth, with beautiful grounds that create a romantic, European-inspired setting. Available for weddings during the summer months (early December to late January), it books out quickly — so it’s worth enquiring right now.

COMO TREASURY & THE STATE BUILDINGS PERTH

At Como The Treasury and The State Buildings, you can exchange vows in the hall or on the lawns of Cathedral Square, then let the bridal party enjoy drinks at Petition Bar while you capture photos around the venue. For dinner, choose from the vibrant courtyard of Long Chim, or head upstairs to Post or Print Hall for a stylish, memorable reception.

Perth City Farm (BYO Wedding Venue Perth)

For couples up for a creative challenge, Perth City Farm can be transformed from a bustling farmers’ market into a unique and stylish wedding venue. I’ve photographed everything from cocktail weddings in the courtyard with festoon lighting and food trucks to indoor long-table receptions for up to 250 guests.

With three separate spaces (two indoors), it works beautifully year-round. Having married here myself, I can vouch for the versatility of their ‘3-day hire’ DIY/BYO package – the kicker was the 2am curfew which was hard to find elsewhere!

#1 tip: Hire a stylist or planner — it makes the process smooth and stress-free.

MOANA HALL

Moana Hall is a versatile 1920’s wedduing venue in the heart of Perth City that can be styled to suit a range of vibes — from a light, airy French-inspired daytime soiree to a vibrant NYC-style evening with neon signs and a light-up dance floor.

This blank canvas venue accommodates up to 200 cocktail guests or 120 for a sit-down reception. Indoor spaces allow for year-round weddings, it’s large enough to host both your ceremony and reception in one location if you like, or there is St George’s Cathedral a walk away if you are after a church ceremony.

MOUNTS BAY SAILING CLUB

Ideal for summer weddings, Mounts Bay Sailing Club offers a stunning waterfront setting for both intimate gatherings and grand celebrations. With flexible indoor and outdoor spaces, a relaxed private-club atmosphere, and sweeping Swan River views, it’s a versatile Perth wedding venue.

Exchange vows on the lush Riverside Lawn, enjoy sunset drinks on the balcony, and celebrate in one of the function rooms with private bars and a large dance floor — the perfect backdrop for your special day.

MATILDA BAY

Matilda Bay offers two stunning Perth wedding venues with spectacular views of the Swan River, Kings Park, and Perth city.

The Roe Room – Located on Level 1, this flagship venue accommodates up to 140 guests for a sit-down wedding or 250 for a cocktail-style event. With its dedicated kitchen, guests enjoy top-quality cuisine perfectly suited for your celebration.

The Catalina Room – A smaller ground-level venue with an adjoining alfresco patio, offering a seamless indoor-outdoor flow through large bi-fold glass doors. MATILDA BAY FORESHORE

A grassy, shady spot with front-row views of the river and the city, Matilda Bay reserve offers a few options for your riverside ceremony and or reception. .

THE QUARRY AMPHITHEATRE

The Quarry Amphitheatre, tucked within Bold Park, is one of Perth’s most scenic and intimate wedding venues. Its soaring limestone walls, manicured lawn terraces, and sweeping city skyline views create a stunning backdrop for both ceremonies and receptions, whether under a clear marquee or in the open air.

Ultimo Catering is the exclusive in-house caterer, then ring in your preferred vendors for your own unique celebration.

COTTESLOE CIVIC CENTRE

Cottesloe Civic Centre is a fairytale-worthy Perth wedding venue with manicured lawns, elegant stonework, and versatile outdoor spaces perfect for ceremonies and receptions.

• Main Lawn & Stage: The largest area on-site, ideal for weddings and events, featuring a stone stage that creates a stunning backdrop. BBQ facilities are available for public use.

• Secret Garden: Nestled in a leafy lower section of the grounds, this intimate spot (also known as Playground 2) is perfect for wedding photos and smaller ceremonies.

• Sunken Lawn: Ideal for intimate receptions, with easy access to the Civic Centre building, toilets, and parking.

A marquee is highly recommended for added flexibility and weather protection.

NIKOLA ESTATE

Nikola Estate in the Swan Valley is a romantic winery wedding venue in Perth, featuring majestic jacaranda trees, manicured lawns, rolling vineyards, and historic buildings — reminiscent of a South of France winery.

The estate offers ceremony and reception packages for 60–260 guests. While the white chapel is stunning, a springtime ceremony beneath the purple jacaranda trees is truly unforgettable.

BARRETT LANE (BYO)

 Located in the picturesque Swan Valley with balcony views of undulating vineyards, Barrett Lane provides an atmosphere of privacy and exclusivity with two areas at your disposal: a fully equipped and air-conditioned function room and a lawn area perfect for cocktails, surrounded by beautifully manicured gardens.

 Barrett Lane can comfortably accommodate up to 130 cocktail guests or 80 seated. Free parking is available on-site. The venue is BYO, hugely reducing the cost of your event. The outside lawn area, adjacent to the function room, is the perfect setting for your wedding ceremony or evening drinks before dinner

SANDALFORD WINERY

A go-to for large-capacity weddings, Sandalford Winery is a beautiful winery with manicured grounds and 3 room options with the largest ‘Estate’ room accommodating 350 sit down or up to 600 for cocktail style. Just ensure to check the T’s and C’s regarding cancellation due to music concerts.

MASONMILL GARDENS

Masonmill Gardens in Carmel is a stunning Perth wedding venue, offering multiple private ceremony locations, unique reception spaces, and full food and beverage packages. With the guidance of expert wedding coordinators, every detail of your day can be perfectly planned.
