HOW TO POSTPONE YOUR WEDDING

How to reschedule a postponed wedding due to covid 19 1

#LoveIsNotCancelled

If you are reading this I’m guessing you too have been affected with having a wedding of yours or someone close to you need to cancel and move to a new date.

My heart goes out to every single couple dealing with this unfortunate turn of events, and likewise to all the wedding vendors losing their livelihood.

If you are planning a wedding in 2021 whether new or postponed, I highly recommend booking a weekday. Keep calm, keep booking vendors as dates will start to fill up extremely quickly as the Australian / New Zealand wedding industries try and accommodate and consolidate 12 months worth of weddings into a six month period.  Most importantly try to put down deposits asap to help the wedding industry stay in business. Now is the time to secure your date, and the vendors you love the most.

WAYS TO TELL YOUR GUESTS YOU ARE POSTPONING THE WEDDING

  • Create an event or group chat in Facebook Messenger. Allow them to DM you for any personal response but this will provide an open forum for mass communications and updates.
  • Your wedding website – if it allows
  • Your e-invite service like Greenvelope and Paperless post. Greenvelope is currently offering free cancellation/postponement emails to your guests. They also have several new cancellation/postponement designs which will make your life so much easier!
  • Mailchimp – If you are tech savy they have a free version. If you have the time you can personalise these to suit your wedding stationery. SIGN UP HERE FREE for under 2000 contacts.
  • Email – Great if you are less tech savy. Just make sure to use BCC so that your guests don’t receive all the replies too.
  • Canva A great little free online platform that allows you to create graphics according to where you are posting ie Instagram, Facebook etc. You can download your graphics and send in an email or using any of the options listed above.

If you’re postponing your wedding here are some email templates to use:

Postponing Template – TO SEND TO YOUR VENUE/VENDORS

Hi [VENDOR NAME],

I hope you and your loved ones are well and you are managing this stressful time. Due to the current situation surrounding the coronavirus, we are needing to postpone our wedding that we have booked with you at [VENUE NAME] on [WEDDING DATE].

Due to the uncertainty of the next few months, we wanted to touch base to see what our options are when it comes to rescheduling our wedding.

(IF UNSURE OF FUTURE DATE:) Is it possible to postpone the date and reschedule once we’ve had the opportunity to speak to some of our guests and vendors?

(IF YOU HAVE A PREFERENCE ON DATES:) Could you please let us know if you are available on the following dates [INSERT DATES REMEMBERING THAT WEEKDAYS WILL BE BEST].

We understand it would be on a first come first serve basis and that we might lose our deposit towards our original date.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Thank you,[YOUR NAMES]
